Some 62 rooms, two function rooms and a Cordillera themed restaurant “with a twist” has opened its doors last Saturday. Wright Park Hotel is the newest hotel that will provide quality accommodation for a city considered as prime destination this part of the country. Rodolfo Palma II and family made the day special during the opening of the hotel that also feature Chateau de Maisons Suites in the eight story edifice owned by the heirs of the country’s first female Supreme Court justice who led in the drafting of the post- Marcos Constitution, Cecilia Munoz-Palma. Palma II led his family welcome guests some of them artists who found a new venue to showcase their talent and earn a living. Bumbo Villanueva’s two works watched young local cultural dancers in welcoming the guests, one of those six-foot metal statues seemingly joined in the beating of the gongs.
A couple of horses welcome guests at the driveway, while two more are near the front desk as the Palma family pay tribute to the animals that dominate the park that is one of the city’s top attractions. The fascination for horses was what the third generation Palma to the city in their youth as they frequent the abutting park for a ride atop a saddle. Eric Coronacion once again showcased his love for arts with Made Here, Artisan Studio where he curate and manage works of local artists and artisans, among which are Philippine Treasure and Eros Goze’s bags. The Studio dominate the lobby of the hotel in an effort to help promote works of local artists. “It is to provide venue for artists,” said mayor Benjamin Magalong, who came late and asked not to be given special treatment.
He later joined the Palma family and Department of Tourism – Cordillera director Jovita Ganongan in dancing the local dance tayao. Lunch at Strawberry Bistro provided the guests the experience in “a family-friendly dining destination that showcases the region’s rich flavor.” It added that the restaurant offers “Filipino favoites with a modern twist and international dishes made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.” Magalong then praised the family for a “quality building” that is expected to withstand strong earthquakes. Located across the Wright Park, after the Volante branch, the Palma owned hotel “stands both a tribute and a homecoming.” Palma added that the hotel “serves as a sanctuary where guests can indulge in refined comfort while embracing Baguio’s beauty and spirit of adventure.”
